The Antiquated Joist article / table in Structure Magazine, June 2009, claims that the design used 50 ksi yield strength for LS-Series joists. However, see attached.

I looked at my 75 year SJI joist catalog, and don't see LS as an official SJI designation. LA & LH are both in there though.
Agree. I am pretty sure this joist series was proprietary to Sheffield. The table also lists the manufacturer as Ashland; maybe parts of the same corporation. That is why it is so hard to find information so I thought I would post it.
There is another thread asking a few years ago with no resolution. Search LS joists. Hope this link works, but if not find it in the June 2009 Structure Magazine archives.
