I hope there are LS-DYNA experts in this forum.

I have come across an FE model which includes a MAT_003 material model for steel. The material is defined using (amongst other parameters) SIGY and ETAN. SIGY is, as I expected, specified equal to a material yield strength, but ETAN is given as its ultimate stress (engineering) at failure, rather than a slope of a true stress / true strain curve after onset of yielding. This is different to what I think the manual specifies. Since the original model developer is quite experienced, I am not sure if this is as expected or just a typo.

The material is a European steel rebar, with a yield at 500MP and an ultimate stress at 840MPa (at ~10% strain).

Any clarification would be appreciated.

Where in the materials manual does it say that the tangent modulus has to do with the ultimate engineering stress at failure? I looked at Mat_003 and I am unable to find such specificity in there.
