I am getting very large NEGATIVE deflections for my pier lpile runs when using a pinned head connection (hpile will be encased in concrete approx. 22ft above ground surface). Can I use a fixed-head connection in this case. If I use a pinned head connection, what could I use as a control option, how much deflection should I allow?

"(hpile will be encased in concrete approx. 22ft above ground surface)"

How could it be pinned?

How much is the embedment length of the pile (into concrete)?

embedment 22 ft into concrete.

sorry, i was unclear, it will be encased in the concrete from ground surface to 22 ft above ground surface. So fixed head then?

Reason: The angle between the pile and the bottom face of the mass concrete will stay constant.

thank you very much

My pleasure, if that solves your problem.
