LPILE Clay classifications

For LPILE, you have to pick the type of soil in each layer and for clay there are a few options (ex: soft, stiff, etc.). In the soils report I'm working with they just say "clay" under the LPILE parameters table. If I go to the boring log they give labels such as "lean clay", "fat clay", "lean clay with sand". Is there a way to correlate these to the LPILE clay categories?
 
You need to run your boring log data via a geotech engineer since these adjectives usually relate to soil test data, etc. You apparently have not done much with boring logs before or you would not be asking these simple questions.
 
There is a way to correlate them. But you have to learn some geotechnical engineering first.

If the geotechnical engineer is not doing the pile design then they shouLd be providing you with the soil model, density, k, c, and any other relative parameter along with the boring logs so you can input the correct soil profile into LPile. If they didn’t provide it, ask for them to elaborate.
