Looking for formula to calculate number of holes in a Tubesheet 2

Hello,

I am looking for a formula to calculate the number of holes that can be drill on in a tubesheet, given the tubesheet diameter, tube size and tube hole pitch.

I have come across this in the past, but just can't locate it in my reference texts.

Don't forget the number of tube passes, that would cancel rows of holes.

Applied Process Design for Chemical and Petrochemical plants Volume 3, Chapter 10, by Ernest E. Ludwig -Gulf Publishing Company- gives tables and figures on tubesheet layout count depending on the number of passes, ID of shell, fixed tubes, U-tubes, floating head, type and size of pitches and, of course, diameter of tubes and the clearance between shell and tubes. Allowance for tie rods and impingement plates require the omission of tubes.
