Hi,

We have an expensive piece of equipment that can withstand only about 4,000,000 A²s let through energy.

There is no circuit breaker fast enough to clear a fault that quick, so we would like to place a fused isolation switch right next to that device. The semi-conductor fuses should be rated 800A for the device.

Would you be able to point out an isolation switch and plugin fuses that can do this job?

Mersen (ex-Ferraz) have a useful guide to the types and ratings, but at 800A you might struggle to find a suitable switch-fuse. I suspect the best chance of finding a fuse and a compatible switch could be the BS88-4 series, which look like they're interchangeable with the regular types of similar rating.

I didn't know that existed.

The fast thing I think for arc flash is dropping a crowbar.
