Looking for cheap option of Solidworks...

Hi Everybody,

I'm looking for the cheaper option for Solidworks. I need simply to be able to open the drawings and maybe make some small changes - like name, translation of descriptions...
No CAM, PDM features or anything like that.
Is there any option for that ?

yeah buy the basic SW package... otherwise you can't open and change the files. If you want to just view it try getting Edrawings viewer.

Otherwise you will have to purchase SW.

If you have any other CAD program you could see if it'll import Solid Works files directly, or if the people you're getting the drawings from will convert them into a format you can import. Perhaps there's even a cheaper CAD program out there that'll import SW Files, but I wouldn't know what that is.

Hello Andre,

It sounds like all you need is to change the text in a drawing. Here are 2 ideas (besides using SolidWorks as Scott said):

1) Get a dwg of the SolidWorks drawings from your customer. Use a dwg editor to change the text (e.g. TurboCAD).

2) Assuming the customer entered the text in the drawing via the custom properties... get a free copy of SolidWorks Explorer and change the custom properties in the models. Then ask the customer to update their drawings (they need SolidWorks to do this).
