My company currently uses 1,1,1-trichloroethane to temporarily expand 11mm diameter silicone tubing. I am looking for an alternative to this hazardous chemical that will basically temporarily expand the silicone in the same manner (w/o any damage). Any suggestions?

you might want to look into isopropyl alcohol.
