Lock-Wire - Standards

Do any of you guys know if Lock-Wire is governed by any engineering standard such as ASME? We are looking to replace this method by Safe-T-Cable.

I've got a feeling there may have been a DEF-STAN or something that had it. I certainly remember a DEF-STAN or similar that gave preffered fastening techniques and there applications.

SAE has an aerospace specification, AS 567, that covers safety wire.
