Dear Friends

I am attaching a drawing, which has BLACK trangles in circle. some are 1/8 (SN 1 & 2), some are 1/4 ((SN 3 & 4), ), some 1/8 with a line in it ((SN 5 & 6). Any body can explain what is the meaning of this symbol. Is it location pin symbol?

My interpretation this symbol help to identify holes with same size as alternative to mark with letters

Your drawing sais it: "Dowel pin".
Different marks identify different holes; not necessarily different diameter, but possibly different fit, and/or positional tolerance.
This technique is beneficial for large parts with hundreds of holes, but could be used elsewhere.
Some time ago it was standard practice, but I don't see it in modern books.
Could someone point out to relevant ASME or ISO standard?

I agree, it is suposed to make it easier to distingush which hole is which, as opposed to formally labeling "A" "B" etc....
