Our Electrical Power Co-op uses a LMU for each agreeable household to cut back some of the heavy loads during peak useage. I have our hot water heater and two baseboard heaters assigned to the LMU. It is done by sending a signal down the power lines to each LMU every time it is turned on or off as needed. I heard each unit is capable of having a discreet address so one or all could be managed by the Power Company.

I think I see another use for the LMU's, they could turn our submersible water well pumps on at only a low tide each day and thereby considerably lower the chloride content of our wells. It is increasingly becoming a problem. I have requested the data from the Co-op but have heard nothing in nearly two weeks. They are perhaps reluctant to furnish the data as they would have to initiate a program to follow our tide schedule and activate the pumps accordingly. Really not a lot of work but when has any agency helped us lately?

Does anyone have any data on a LMU similar to that I have described?

I must apologize to our Electrical Co-op. They sent the entire package of complete information on LMU's to our Lopez Island address rather than our 1st home address in Everett. It contained all of the data I had needed and asked for and I am very pleased with them for their willingness to cooperate. I misjudged this public service but will never do so again.
