Using NX 7.5
This is for quoting purposes. Really easy, yet time-consuming stuff. My ultimate goal is to make it easier and faster so that it takes up less of my time.
Current Process:
- Layout Part Views (Since most parts are shown in vehicle position, these will all be custom/projected views)
- Make hidden lines dashed in top, front, and right views.
- Make hidden lines invisible in ISO (only relevant with iges files).
- Add scale label to front view if not 1:1
- Use journal to import appropriate Border File. Three different border sizes to choose from.
- Edit Sheet size.
- Fill out: Layer part is on (Only applicable when customer sends multiple parts in one file).
- Fill out: Filename, FilePath (This is done automatically)
- Fill out: Customer Name, Contact, and ZipFile Name. (If doing a large batch of files for the same customer, I will edit the template files to populate this information).
- Fill out: Part Number, Part Name, Part Thickness
- Print & Repeat.
Current Objectives:
- 1 Create 1 border part that contains all three border sizes, each on a different layer. (Complete)
- 2 Create journal to import border file to correct layers and adjust layers in view based upon sheet size. (Complete)
- 3 Create journal to edit sheet size and adjust layers. (Complete)
- 4a Link tabular notes on each border size to a tabular note just outside the print area. Or:
- 4b Move the location of the tabular note based upon sheet size.
- 5 Automatically import 4 views into drawing. Adjusting front view will automatically adjust 3 other views.
- 6 Modify Border file so it works with any size of paper.
With 4a, I can link the tabular notes on the sheets with the tabular note off the sheet by using object properties. I cannot figure out how to set those properties based upon what is entered in the note.
Thanks,
Allen
FYI, I have approximately 9 months experience with NX.
