Linking drawing layers to parts

Hi guys,

We use layers in our layout drawings to mark our electronics, valves, etc. To assign the right layer to a part takes quite some time in the drawing file.
The parts are usually catalog parts so often reused. Is there an opportunity to auto assign the layer type in the layout drawing file?
I'm not very advanced with macro's so maybe that's a solution?
