Link Property to Sub-assy Description

I'm attaching a note to a small sub-assy (a ball valve w/ an actuator on it). We call the sub-assy out as one part (3" Ball Valve w/ Electric Actuator). But when I link the note to the sub-assy's description, the only option that seems to pertain to me is to link property to "component to which annotation is attached." That only gives me the description for one part in the sub-assy.

Does anyone know a trick to make this work, or maybe I'm overlooking something?

If you are linking the Note at the Sub-Assembly level,
there should be 2 options available for you.

1.Current Document
2.Component to which assembly is attached.

and 2 other options which are greyed out.

Out of the available options select " Current Document" and link to the desired property.

I was trying to link the note to sub-assy's and parts in the drawing view....Current document would be the drawing properties and componenet to which assy is attached would be the indivual parts of the ball-valve sub-assy not the whole thing.

Maybe I could add the note in the model and bring it in as a model item?

Also, I tried to follow the FAQ info on "BOM Wrap Text," but couldn't get the hard return to work in Excel. I have Excel 2003. Can anyone clue me in on this?

If you are trying to link the note in the Drawing of the sub-assembly there should be 4 choices available for you:

1.Current Document
2.Model in view to which annotation is attached
3. Model specifed in sheet properties
4. Component to which annotation is attached.

If you select " Model in view to which annotation is attached, you will get the desired result.

Regards,

There is no link to the properties of a sub-ass'y. "Model in view to which annotation is attached" will give the properties of the top level assembly while "Model in view to which annotation is attached" gives only the part level. No option in between.

I have submitted this as an ER in the past. You should do the same.

Thanks, I've done just that. Hopefully we will see this soon.
