Lining material for Thermal Expansion

Hi

We have DN80 PVC-U pipework hanged from the Galvanized Steel clamps shown in this picture. I need to select a lining material that allows lateral movement due to thermal expansion.

can somebody nominate a suitable lining material?

There are actually two pipes. Both pipes are double contained. DN25 in DN80. PVC-U. sch.80. Inner pipes carry chemicals (Ferric Chloride & Caustic Solutions)

Temperature range is 0 - 45 degrees Celsius.

The temps don't look too bad. But the material in the pipes may not have many liners that are compatible. I would talk to other process engineers and chemists about this.

Hi Richard,

The chemicals are in inner pipe. the liners come into contact with the outer pipe only.

You just need to line the outer casing to control corrosion? I would look at some type of CIPP or a spray-on polyurea or epoxy coating.

Hey there. I've seen Teflon used as a substitute for Neoprene on pipe flange-rest supports to permit movement caused by thermal expansion.

IMHO, the type of support you show in the first post is fundamentally unsuited to allow pipe movement and is more like an anchor. The support is designed to clamp tightly onto the pipe.

Why you have a pipe in pipe system made of the same material is not clear unless this is simply for double containment??
