Limit on outstanding drawing changes

Is there a standard anywhere that specifies (or even suggests) a limit on the number of outstanding drawing changes that can exist before the drawing must be revised?

Not that I'm aware of, I don't think it comes up in ASME Y14.100 series docs.

Might be in the old mil std.

I'd expect this was something that was set by contract or by company.

I have never seen a standard covering this, usually contract or internally generated.

Once I was incorporating a number of changes to a jet engine part. One of the ecos had me decrease a thickness to save weight. Another had me increase the same thickness to increase strength.
