Hello,

Currently I am working on hot lime softening project. Would anyone be able to recommend a source for hot lime softener modeling software to help calculate lime, soda ash and MgO feed rates for treatment of a given water? Perhaps just an Excel spreadsheet program to share and perhaps build upon.

Many thanks.

Sorry jerry2363 you will have to develop your own model. You can get the process equations from one of the equipment vendors such as Siemens Water Technologies. It is not that hard to do.

Are you sure you want/need a hot lime system? There might be more economical ways to soften your water without generating a mountain of lime sludge.

cub3bead, happy new year.
Our hot lime system is designed for treating produced water (seperated from oil emulsion). The lime sludge bed can filter the oil in water.
Do you think I can get equations from equipment vendors?

Thanks a lot

Everything you need is in my copy of the old Permutit Water & Wastewater Treatment Data Book. You should be able to get a copy of it from your local Siemens Water Technolgy sales rep. Sections 60 & 61 in my book have the information needed. Later versions of the book may have moved them though.
