Lifting slings for pickle process

Looking for the impossible here.
Lifting slings that can stand up to being submereged in HF / Nitric mix, then Lime neutralization. Polypropelene, Nylon and 304 stainless all poor performers. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I can provide more information if required, though this is not a project of mine, simply putting the "feelers" out there.

Why not stainless steel hooks on chains to hold your items?

Yes we looked at SS but there are some concerns around compromising the safety factor of the chains over time. We are lifting up to 9000lbs of product and immersing them into the acid then lime tanks. It seems we have slings that are good for one or the other, but not both.

Have you checked at other alternatives whereby the synthetic slings or chains would not be immersed but only exposed to the vapors which may give more time before replacement sets are used.

Wire rope is made from all kinds of material. Maybe try corrosion or stainless forum??

PFA- its got wide corrosion resistance to nitric acid, hydrofluoric acid, akali.
Perfluroaloxy- available in cord. PTFE- Teflon has similar resistance but I don't think its available in cord. And there another high fluorinated polymer with similar broad resistance.

Does the wetted part actually have to be re-useable? Or could you use long lifting eyes and dispose of them at the end of the process.
Not as cheap but you never submerge your lifting equipment more than the one time.

Just a thought.

You will not want to put the same slings into both the pickle bath and the lime.
You will need to re-sling the loads after rinse and before neutralization.

Yes ED thats our problem, time constraints and added safety issues make switching slings a last option.
I did have your contact information to discuss this very issue, though like many things, I miss-placed it!
