Goodday folks

Hi all i need some help regarding ligting lug.
Im trying to design an padeye to lift 15 tons load.
but im having trouble to design it because my basic is not from mechanical.
Can someone review my design and give comment about it.
Did 1.55 inches thickness enough to lift 15tons load?

What material, application, industry, country, attachement...?
Odd dims, typically use stock size, pin and plate thickcness.
you need a mentor..
 
yeeah am actually process eng,but my mech.eng just resign.
There is standard of sizing lifting lug?.
i have 2 spread sheet but give realy diff explanation.
we wanna use it to lift heavy equipment,etc.

aah sory forget to mention im using SA36 grade50
 
In USA
ASME BTH-1 addresses design requirements. Standard should be used in conjunction with ASME B30.20, which addresses safety requirement. If you are conducting overhead lifts, PE may be required to check the design.

Comments
The ussual material specification for square and rectangular HSS is ASTM A500 grade B (Fy = 46 ksi; Fu = 58 ksi)
The size of the hole you need is determined by the shackle pin size. Consider making the hole 1/8" over the shackle pin.
Change the padeye thinkness to stock size. (check the shackle fits over it)
Connection of lug, finish, reamed hole are important
Your design material strength provides a positive margin

I see now.i just need to see pin diameter first in pin shackle catalog than count the the thickness.
