Hi folks,

Does anyone know where I can see a practical example of lifting lug forces and moments being resolved. I am designing lugs for a chain angle of 60 degrees and need to know how to reolve this force into horizontal and vertical components as well as moments.

A practical visible example ona website or ina book etc would be most welcome

Thanks

"Presure Vessel Design Handbook" by Bednar has a good example on the subject. The weld design is important but also make sure you evaluate the thickness of the lifting lugs and the size and location of the hole in relation to the edge. As stated above Crosby will also publish their information on lifting lugs.
