The Autodesk provided component libraries are OK but they insist on creating components with names which are meaningless in our organisation. The bunch of xml files which seem to control things are hard to interpret.
We want to use in house names in the library browser and get in house names in the model browser and on parts lists.
Any ideas please

The best idea... forget about the built in content library. Up until R8 it was uneditable. The XML files are only part of it. There is an encrypted database that really contains all the info.

In R8 you can do some editing but not enough for my taste.

Look into iParts. You'll love them.
