Leybold D2500 blowers

We use Leybold D2500 turbo blowers in some of the Bystronic resonators and I know they're used in other non Bystronic machines. It seems they're getting more expensive and they don't seem to last as long as they used to. I've had some failures in warranty and some just out of warranty which really hurts! What is everyone else's experience with the Leybold D2500? I've heard of a conversion to a blower with magnetic bearings, does anyone know about this or have any suggestions to address the cost/quality/reliability issue of the D2500?

My company had replaced one about 3 weeks ago and is in the process of replacing another one. I was wondering if there are any complaints about availabilty and what is the average life of the turbo.Currently we are waitng on delivery and I was wondering if it would be wise to keep one in stock.The downtime cost more than the week or two of waitng for the parts

The way things are going right now, if something isn't done about the low lifespan and high replacement costs of the D2500, there's going to be a lot of laser owners in a world of hurt.

It gets worse. I had a customer call me and he was told that Bystronic would have no blowers until January. I've had some customers try to get their blowers repaired but they tell me that Bystronic has some kind of contract and it's pretty much impossible to get a D2500 repaired/serviced/whatever unless you go through Bystronic. If Bystronic insists on wedging itself between Leybold and the users, then they need to take the customers needs seriously. If they don't want to do this, they need to release the contract.
