Does anyone have any links to good information regarding the design of level winds or manufacturers that can help spec/manufacture a self reversing screw. We're trying to optimize an existing design and are looking to either farm this work out or get some details from experience rather than going through a typical new design debug (not enough time or people to put on it)

Look at an open baitcasting reel for fishing and you can see the traversing/reversing mechanism.

I am more looking for the specifics of the follower design, transitions and dwell on the screw, and materials rather than general data. I'm hoping to not have to learn from scratch what someone already knows about the details of the design.

Here's another site (not a screw levelwind, but a "rolling ring" levelwind). They have a lot of information to help you spec a levelwind for your application.
