ASME SEC VIII Div 2, Para 4.19.2(g) states that "The length of the cylindrical shell on each side of the bellows shall not be less than 1.8√(Dsts)". While starting point for measurement of this length is provided by fig 4.19.2, the ending point of measurement of this legth is not clear. Is the ending point the first circumferential weld joint to the adjacent shell course?
If the answer to the above question is "No", can the length of the adjacent shell course be included in the minimunm length, if the adjacent shell course is of the same material and has the same diameter and thickness as that of the shell portion welded to the bellow?
