LCV 3015 Bll - Assist Gas Problem

Hi Guys,

We have been using our Amada LCV 3015 BII really successfully getting nice cuts until about four weeks ago. One of the operators reckoned that after changing the Oxy assist gas suddenly the cut quality deteriorated badly. We went through all the motions changing out bottles, checking lines etc but couldn't seem to find any major issue.

Since then have had two different techs in, now have replaced internal optics and aligned mirrors but we are still getting same issue. While trying to tune up machine following optic replacement we now cant get even the nitrogen assist gas to run at correct pressure (it just won't get there). We are thinking blockage or leaking of assist gas lines/ valves..... any ideas? Has anyone experienced this type of issue before? The cut looks ok on carbon steel but is really raggy on the bottom and the plume is all over the place.

Really appreciate any help here - turning into a very expensive exercise.

Unfortunately this machine has no inline filters... looks like we are going to have to go through each line one by one
 
Remove the 2 CKD silencers on the hypervalve (proportional) and try cutting again, if it works then clean or replace them. I have seen that blocked silencers cause gas pressure variations for the 1st 5 to 10 seconds of from piercing to cutting.
Check the proportional valve current or voltage (can't remember what drives it), if the voltage or current is fluctuating while it's cutting that might help a lot in the diagnosis.
Check the pressure sensor on the head, might be a problem there?

 
Thanks for the advice, we are finding a heap of gunk in the lines so working through cleaning everything. Will let you all know how we go.
 
Once again thanks to those that provided advice on this issue, below is a quick summary of events and what we did -

Machine suddenly lost all cut quality, we had to change cut settings significantly to keep cutting - couldn't do any of the thicker material though as not enough power.

Diagnosis was internal optics... we ordered the optics and struggled along while waiting for them

After a week of waiting the machine suddenly starting alarming out

Diagnosis was one of the blower fans had collapsed bearings

We decided to wait until optics arrive and replace the blower fan at same time

Replaced the optics and the blower fan, fired the machine back up and still got really poor cuts.

Diagnosis was issues with assist gas

We cleaned all the gas lines and the valves (all were full of gunk)
We pulled the head apart and replaced all of the O'rings
Replaced a couple of diaphragms on the adjustment valves.

Fired up machine again - best cuts ever, all problems appear to be solved :). We probably could have got a bit more life from the old internal optics but they were definitely on the way out. The blower fans are about 5k each from japan but we reconditioned an old one that we had previously swapped out and it is working fine... Keep in mind this is a Japanese domestic market machine that was never supposed to end up here in NZ so parts not as easily available as other models..

Seems you have the OLC cross flow resonator, it's bullet proof like the Mits.
