Hi all,

This is not my first post on that subject, but I don't find any input. So I will try here to simplify my problem.

I want to extract the interlaminar stresses at an interface between 2 layers, for a composite plate under uniaxial extension. For instance, if I take a [45/-45]s laminate, I want to extract Sz, Sxz and Syz at the 45/-45 interface. Since I'm using Solid46 elements, there is an element on both sides of the interface, so I get 2 different solutions at the same node. Does anyone know the procedure for calculating a correct value of interlaminar stresses? I mean, do I have to add up the solutions from the two elements on each side of the interface, or substract them, or whatever?

Any input would be appreciated! Thanks in advance...

Hi

Can't you plot the nodal results they will bee the same.
The problem with element results is that the results are extrapolating to the nodes so you will get divered result at the same node.
If you want the good result then average these element results.
