Layer changing with tool palettes

are you having difficulty changing the layers? By linking the use of a particular tool to a corresponding layer, you will be limiting the use of the tool to the layer, hence crippling autocad. a logical alternative would be to customise your toolbars, placing the layer manager in a more accessible location.
