Are there any laws that enforce design in slopes for the open pit mines in the USA?
In several countries the Department of Mineral& Energy has a set of guidelines that needs to be followed when designing and mining open pits.....
What department will be in charge of that and where can I find relevant information pertaining this issue?

Thank You...

Emrich;

Yes. But attempting to find an explicit answer may be problematic. Some states have their own programs while others rely on the Feds to oversee local mining operations.

A good place to start your searching would be: <A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> ("Office of Surface Mining & Reclemation")

Other search options would include "US Bureau of Mines" (part of the Dept of Interior) and "Mine Safety & Health Administration". Finally, try looking through the various departments for the State that you're concerned with.

Good Luck,

-Tim-
