I'm planning a remodel on my home and I have a question about lateral bracing techniques for a beam.

I want to replace an existing (2) 2x6 with a (2) 2x10. The current beam supports a bedroom for a span of 5.5 feet and a point load from the ceiling. I've got the 2x10 beam to work in Fv and Fb and L/360. My question is, can I consider the joists being toenailed into the beam as lateral bracing at 16 O.C.? The joists are blocked and attached to 3/4" subfloor. I don't think there is a concern for torsion but I want to run through the calculations regardless.

Thanks in advance!
