I am looking at a project where an existing old building has rotten floor joists on the 2nd floor (3 storey and roof). I am planing the support the floor from below and remove the rotten ends of the joists replacing them with new spliced joists. As part of the process i want to ensure the wall has adequate lateral restraint. Todo this i plan to resin anchor a channel or angle to the wall with mild steel l straps fixed to the rear of the steel. The straps will then be screw fixed down to the new spliced floor joists.
I am also looking at a number of proprietry systems.
Has anyone used a solution similaer to the one I have proposed above or a proprietry system? If so to ensure adequate lateral restraing how do you calculate the required lateral load? (1.5% vertical load, etc.)
