WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF EVALUATING SEVERAL LASER SHEET/PLATE CUTTING MACHINES (WHITNEY, TRUMPH,MITSUBISHI,BYSTRONIC,MAZAK).WE ARE LOOKING AT CUTTING MILD STEEL UP TO 1" THICK, 5' X 10' SHEET/PLATE AND CONSIDERING 4KW TO 6KW MACHINE.

1-WE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE SOME INPUT ON WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN CUTTING MILD STEEL WITH THICKNESS VARYING BETWEEN 1/4
TO 1".

2-ALSO ANY INPUT ON THE MACHINES LISTED ABOVE IS WELCOME.

3-WW WOULD LIKE ALSO TO KNOW WHAT FEATURES TO HAVE AND HAVE NOT AND WHY?

THANK YOU.

Hello,

Your material is a Class II material
You will need the following...

Laser type: Pulsed Nd:YAG (diode pumped)
Power density: > 5.0E+6
Pulse width: .0001 - .020 sec
Sector width: .00005 - .010 sec (upto 20 programmable sectors)
Pulse Energy: .1 - 50 Joules

The final beam delivery system will be determined by your specific application, which I did'nt have enough info to answer.

This setup will challenge the vendor, but will provide you with an adequate setup to cut, and even weld if needed (free bonus benifit).

I hope this helped.
