Not having much background in laser except for that one class in physics where I learned that its happens when you have photons behaving in a coherent manner after coming out from some precious rock (ruby? or was it jade?). I am force to come here and solicit your expertise.

Anyway, I have been tasked with finding out what kind of laser resonator can be bought to cut through sheet metals of 16gauge thickness. We are looking for these resonators in order to build ourselves some cool cutting machines and sell them on the market and make a profit thereby increasing company shareholders values. But that's the marketing dept's job. My job is to find economical laser resonators at a good price, which will cut through 16gauge sheet metal relatively quickly (not sure how to quantify that though). Thanks for any info.

Try PRC lasers. They had a bad rep back in the 80's but I had the joy of working (integrating) some of their units into our cutters in the mid to late 90's and they were fairly priced and performed well. Training and service support were good too. Rofin Sinar, I used to work there, makes very good equipment but they cost a little more.

Hope this helps.

and by the way, it was Ruby. :)

In a hundred years, it isn't going to matter anyway.
