I use Unigraphics NX to design molds using complex surfaces. I develop problems when the models start to get large (10,000 plus surfaces) and my computer starts bogging down. Is there anyway I can make these files smaller and easier to work with? I am not concerned much with keeping the files parametric. I have tried exporting the models as a .prt and removing the parameters but sometimes this does not help. would it help to put large chunks of the model on seperate layers? Any ideas?

Try combining several surfaces into a single larger surface. This will reduce the entity count that the program must keep track of and should reduce memory requirements.
