knee implant model

Hi all,
does anyone have a finite element model, either Solidworks or ABAQUS, of a knee replacement implant? I need an existing model for a study involving stresses applied to the knee

Have you tried to contact someone at Depuy, Biomet, Medtronic , or any of the other many Orthopaedic companies out there? I know that most of this stuff is proprietary and confidential, but they may be able to help if you sign some sort of agreement.

@SnowCrash The only appropriate one on Grab CAD has invalid geometry when imported to ABAQUS. As yet unresolvable within my team. @boottmills I have had correspondance with DePuy but this make take a few weeks to review. Are there any similar databases such as Turbosquid? thanks

I am not at all familiar with ABAQUS so I do not know what file formats it can use or prefers. However, you might try importing the model into SolidWorks. If you can bring it in successfully into SWX, even if you have to repair it there, then perhaps you can export it into a more suitable format for ABAQUS. For instance, if the model is only available as an IGES file perhaps you can bring it into SWX, repair if needed, and export it as a Parasolid or ACIS or even a different flavor of IGES that is more suitable.

Try Zygote. I saw them at SolidWorks World a few years ago and, if I remember correctly, their stuff was pretty good.

If you could that would be great. As I say the geometry is fine in Solidworks but when imported into ABAQUS it flags up as invalid.
I have attached the UHMWPE part and tibial tray component of the model to this thread for you.

Please see the attached picture which highlights the difficult geometry. Auto vertual topology in the meshing module fixes most of the issues. The face highlighted is probably more of a modeling issue with Boss-Extrude4 in SWx. I would use convert entities in sketch8 to get the curved section to match the base geometry. I hope this Helps
