Hi guys, I am in need of help.
I am confused, what are kickers? This is for vertical aluminum mullions, 7m in height. How can I apply these kickers on my staad model (photo below) to reduce mullion's buckling?

Please bear with me, I am new to this.
An illustration would be really helpful.

Thank you!

Based on my experience in the curtain wall world (which I am guessing this may be), we would typically describe a kicker as a structural assembly used to provide an additional lateral support point for vertical mullions - I am attaching a sketch of something similar.

And they usually end up exposed, or enclosed in some manner, so usually only used when all other options are exhausted.

You need another connection joint outside of the mullion's axial axis in order to provide a kicker. A kicker is a short member, usually, diagonally connects two other main members to form a triangle shape around a corner.

Yes correct, this is curtain wall. Noted on that. So if I put a point support (for kicker) midway on the vertical mullion, what would be my release? I'm assuming to add it as a fixed-but support to restrain wind load.

Kicker usually has no bending capacity, nor it is desired.
