Slightly confused as you might expect but tried to land twice in a monsoon, apparently landing on 10 runway instead of 28 as originally required and ran off the end and down a steep incline at the end of the runway.

More info.
Apparently landed downwind and touched down 100m along the 2800m runway.

Pilots and 16 more dead, many injured.

This happens every year, I think there was 5 or 6 last year.

In the western world we have retard pits at the end of the runway to catch the plane.

its not a long runway for a 60 ton aircraft with standing water when you touch down with a head wind at the right place. Never mind 1 km in leaving 1800m left and a 10 knot tailwind.

Nobody ever seem to learn though.
