K factors for flow split in piping tees

Greetings,

I am need to design/size some steam distribution piping. I am trying to determine how steam flow will split when entering a tee section through the branch leg. I have searched for pressure loss coefficient information but have not found anything really useful. I believe the factors in Crane's manual are for flows entering the tee via the run section only.

Does anyone have experience with this or know of a good reference?

Thanks in advance

Your understanding of Crane is correct. My other reference books show the same.
Maybe a piping arrangement review is in order?

I have one reference for the K factors for these type of fittings. It is from a book titled "Mechanical Design of Process Systems", volume 1, piping and pressure vessels by A. Keith Escoe, 2nd edition.

My reference for the branch loops is "SULZER CENTRIFUGAL PUMP HANDBOOK" which is giving the K factors in accordance with the flow rate ratio and in several directions of flow.
The same information might be optained from VDI Heat Manual, 2nd Ed. 1974.

For a detailed analysis of this refer to Flow Resistance A Design Guide for Engineers Chapter 7 by Freid and Idelchick Hemispere Publishing.

Dear Mr. JoeChem ,

Go through HTFS Handbook - Single / Two Phase flow.
It will help you as far as pressure loss coefficients are concerned.

All the best.
