does any1 know how to transfer jpg file into 2d drawing in
pro-e?

i want to make some of animals 3d model.

I had seen this being done in one of the presentations.
As I recollect the presenter used Pro/Concept or ISDX. The
conversion is not automatic. JPG files are not vector
files. Check this out with some Industrial Designers using
Proe for the purpose.

jpeg/bmp etcfiles are raster files while CAD files use vector files ( DXF for instance ) and are not compatible. There are free programmes out there that claim to convert the two but are not really that good. Just search google for jpeg to DXF and you'll have loads come up.

Looking at the date of the initial post of this question, I don't know if this information will help. But I will respond anyway.


You can import your jpeg, png and other graphicsinto a style feature by using trace sketch from the pull down menu under styling. You select the datum plane you want the image to be placed on and a dialog box openswhere you select the graphic you want to import. You can then sketch a datum curve, using your graphic as a visual reference. You will not be able to copy edges from your image, it is only a visual reference. You can either sketch your datum curvesin the style feature, or you can sketchthem outside of your style feature. One thing to note is that you should place some dimensions on your "tracing" sketched datum curve as you work. This will help keep your sketch in it's desired location. It is not uncommon for your sketch to become unstable. Another tip is to exit out of your curve and save your work as you go, just as you would if you were building features. This will help protect your progress in your datum sketch.

If you anly want to copy Jpeg to your 2D drawing, just import it into MS Picture manager, cut and size as you like, than save it again. Import it into Paint and save it in BMP so you can insert it in your ProE drawing. I hope I did not misunderstood your problem. Cheers..

I didnt quite follow what you were saying. what and where is "Style Feature" and "Trace Sketch" can you explain. Also what version Wildfire you using??

You will need Pro/Surface within you version of WF, or for WF4 you

You can use Img2Cad (http://www.img2cad.com/) to convert a raster (eg jpg)into a vector file (eg dxf). Play around with the settings to optimise the conversion. I've used it to trace logos etc. but they have to be relatively simple jpg's.

if you really consider inserting jpg in 2D drawing, you should first
save jpg as bmp file and then use Import data functionality.



Pro/e does not open jpg, but it can import bmp.

No you can not make 3D in Pro E from JPG file.
This feature is available in Creo.
