I have interior 8" cmu walls suporting joists on both sides. Typically, I would stagger the joists since the standard joist bearing length is 4" and placing them at the same locations would not allow this. However, is it acceptable for joists to bear at the same location if placed on the same bearing plate and using a reduced end bearing length?

Why not use a 10" bond beam at the top and use the bearing that you need. If the top of the wall is going to be above the ceiling no one will ever see the change in thickness.

Or just embed an 8" long steel bearing plate at the location of each of the pair of joists...
