Hello,

I am seeking a help in the subject matter. I am working on a project where Steel structure is in our scope. We have a Turbine building where we have a Main column having Web Thickness of 25-50 MM and Flange 40-63 MM.
My query is " Can we go ahead with Fillet weld between Web and flange joint. ?" request you to kindly suggest refrence documents for the same.

Regards
Aakash

More information is required to determine the weld required. Is this a plate girder or built-up "I" shaped column section? What are the design forces? What is the stress in the welds?

It is standard practice to fillet weld these joints plate girders. Almost any textbook that covers welded plate girders will have the information.

It bothers me that you ask the question, It implies that you are not sufficiently knowledgeable in this field to be doing this work without the supervision of a qualified mentor. Your structure needs a well qualified and experienced structural engineer, it is not work for beginners.

Michael.
Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.

There are usually minimum code requirements for joints between members.
Check what your local code says.

I would think that single pass fillet welds would be insufficient.
