I just saw a report on John McEleney being replaced as CEO of Solidworks. This comes on the tails of Dassault decreeing that the Solidworks reseller channel would become the Dassault Systemes Volume Channel. Hmmm... Any connection here? They want to use the Solidworks name to leverage sales of other Dassault products. Will we as CAD users be affected? I really do not know what impact this will have. The first that comes to mind is that my VAR is now going to be dividing his resources to cover other products and leave me with even less support for Solidworks. Oh, and he is probably going to try and push his new product line on me. I just have a bad feeling about all this. Does anyone think that these changes are good ones?

Only time will tell for sure.

I would say these are personal decisions. Mr. McEleney is getting married and he also wishes to spend time with his father who is ill.

It also looks like this move has been in the works for quite a while now, based on the CADalyst article.

What does the future hold for SolidWorks is anybody's guess. I am sure many of us will be interested observer's
