Is a joggle joint according to Fig. UW-13.1(i) allowed for vessel in corrosive service?

Thanks

Regards

CrisDom, top of my head, I don't recall any particular rules for "corrosive service".

BUT: I 'd think if the crevice is exposed to the corrosive medium, you'd be asking for trouble.

Regards,

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

Thanks Mike, my doubt comes from an Italian Code that doesn't allow this particular joint in case of corrosive medium, but actually it seems to me that ASME doesn't specify any limitation regarding service issues (even though I don't like this geometry in case of corrosive medium).

Thanks for your opinion.

Cristiana

Oh no. Never use this construction.
See NACE SP0178.

Yes, it's an industry known non-standard term for that type of joint, most commonly used in propane tank fabrication.

The devil is in the details; she also wears prada.

Never heard it in any industry I've been involved in. Which TBF does not include propane tank fabrication.

Ironic....Conrex in your neck of the woods makes them.
