I have just joined a company and my first assignment is to workout on the toolings, jigs & fixtures for hanging large steel parts on continuous conveyor for pre-treatment and powder coating. Can anyone just guide me so that I could regularly took the feed back and support in this regard.

Thanks in advance

First - -go look at what is in the plant now.

Second - - talk to the people that use the jigs/fixtures IN the plant (especially the foremen - - who hear the gripes, and usually have worked each of the areas)
Ask questions. What works right? What doesn't? What else is wanted/needed ?

Third - - talk to the people that fix/repair/replace the fixtures. Ask questions. What breaks down? Where? When? Why? What survives? What materials are being used?

Fourth - - talk to the people that build the jigs/fixtures for you. (Whether inside-workers or outside contractors)
Do they get the directions they need? Do they get feedback? Are they getting the time/resources needed? Or are they having to slap equipment together with little notice?

Fifth - - talk to your peers inside the company. Why are they doing things this way? What changes 'should' be made? (Lots of questions here......)

Hope these suggestions help.

Curmudgeon.
