Hello Everyone -

I am having an issue runnging the the Advanced Search functionality in NX 8.5 Help File. I clearly have Java installed (Version 7 Update 40) on my Windows 7 64 bit machine. But I keep getting an error that says I need to download a version of Java to allow this function to work. I go to the Java website listed in the pop up menu and even the Java website verifies that I have a working and enabled version of Java.

Does anyone know how to make this work?

Thanks,

Check With GTAC We had this issue and our IT dept contacted GTAC and got it fixed. Sorry I do not have the details

We had to download a new version of the qagent.jar from the GTAC website to get ours working in NX 7.5. I would imagine it is the same problem for you.

actual there is not fix for 1.7.0.40 java - switch back to 1.7.0.25
the oracle/java pluggin is really mess ( from oracle)

Hi sumBuddy,
uwam2ie and stThree are correct. You may downgrade to update 25 and replace the qagent.jar (in UGDOC) provided by GTAC.
However if you still wish to go ahead with update 40 then you need to wait for some time (frankly speaking i am not sure about the actual date we will get a fix for this but may be by this month end.I will let you know if i find out the same.).
This looks like a side-effect of the latest JRE security enhancements.
Best Regards

Thanks everyone for the replies. I rolled my Java back to version 7 update 21 so that it is compliant with the qagent.jar file that comes with NX 8.5.2. I am disappointed that I have to lower my Java security level to medium (the lowest setting) because the SearchApplet is not signed (come on Siemens).

Thanks for all your help,
