My co-worker and I each have a seat of SolidWorks 2008. We frequently receive 2D drawing files from our parent company in Japan. When I open these files on my machine the Japanese text looks fine. That's not the case for my co-worker - the Japanese text gets converted to squares/rectangles. Does anyone know what may be causing this or how to fix it? Thanks for your help.

His machine maybe missing the required font. Try to determine which font is being used and copy that to his machine.

Thanks. Can you give me any idea as to where this font file might be located on my workstation? I don't know what to look for.

The fonts are contained in C:/Windows/Fonts

You should be able to see which font is being used from the Note Manager when editing text in a drawing.

You can also just re-run the installer and add the Japanese fonts.
