ISO: PE ChemE in California/ Nevada

Hi guys, we need some PE work, i remember there is a directory somewhere that you can look up active PE licenses, but i cant seem to find it. CA's search site will let you verify a given PE by name or license, but theres no directory by trade.

What type of work would specifically require a Chemical PE? I'd assume it has to do with the permitting of some sort or a governmental regulatory agency? I'm just curious. I haven't seen alot of cases where a chemical PE is a requirement.
