Hello forum,
For railings, standard ISO 14122 gives testing/validation procedure, but it dont talk about the the way it should be supported during testing.
In real practice they will be bolted on the flange of outer (primary) beam of the structure.
This supported beam is 4 m long with fixed supports at ends and this beam support other secondary beams with pin support.
Now during the railing testing,
1) is it necessary to use existing support condition OR
2) fixed the test railing at each post bottom and test it?
But as the standard is about the railing, i think support conditions shall not be taken into account, hence conditions 2 shall be used rather than using the condn 1 which is related to member design.
Also the standard don't give the procedure for testing of the gratings.
So how do you validate them?
