Another structural engineer recently told me that the allowable 4 foot offset for combining shear walls into one shearwall line (flexible diaphragm analysis only) has been deleted from the 2006 IBC / ASCE 7, and the new offset value is only 6 inches. Can anyone confirm or deny this with a code reference? I cannot find it. Thanks in advance.

I did finally find the IBC section - 2308.9.3 - apparently still allowing the 4 foot horizontal offset. I still wonder though if there is a code exception/restriction to this allowance somewhere else in the code.

It was a misinterpretation of ASCE 7, section 14.5.2. No worries.
