Is PD monitoring reliable??

What do you think about PD monitoring in GIS (525kV? Realiable or just on more source of doubt? can you tell us a good one manufacture?

EA Technology in the UK have established themselves as an authority on PD in switchgear, although generally at lower voltages. They might be worth a call to see if their expertise and measurement techniques extend to higher voltages.
 
PD monitoring does work. We have it fitted to our larger Turbo Alterantors. Luckily ours have not worked yet. I know our local power utility is fitting them to older machines, risk based.

On switchgear, transformers and overhead lines, my knoweldge is limited and my experience zero.
