That approach might work for an 8 task schedule, but what if I have 800 tasks? How can I tell if everything moved correctly?
To determine if you have no "dangling tasks", try this:
1. Turn on Autofilter - >Project, >Filter, >Autofilter
2. Insert the Successor column
3. Click on the dropdown for Predecessor, then select the blank space. This will show all tasks that have no Predecessors. It would be appropriate that the first task does not contain a predessor. Anything else might be of concern.
4. Clear the Predecessor filter.
5. Now click on the dropdown for Successor and select the blank space. It would be appropriate for your last task not to have a Successor. Anything else might be of concern.
Another word of advice before moving forward; check your critical path. (>Project, >Filter for, >Critical). Make sure the critical path tasks that appear in this list are as you would expect. If not, check your logic and durations.
Hope this helps!
